Campbelltown City Council is championing an exciting bid to establish an A-League team within the Macarthur region. We are united with Camden and Wollondilly Councils answering the calls from locals for a full-time professional sports team based in the Macarthur region.
This bid is focused on establishing a club that will service the South West Sydney region – one of the fastest growing in Australia The bid will focus on a community ownership model, seen nowhere else in Australia, with a strong club emphasis on pathway development for all teams including A-League, W-League and Y-League. The team will have genuine community involvement through an ownership model whereby the community can buy a ‘slice’ of the team.
A core element of our bid is that it will be community owned with a co-operative structure not seen in the sporting fabric in Australia, yet is the basis of success experienced overseas with clubs such as Barcelona, Real Madrid and the majority of the Bundesliga.
